Push client to existing Android devices

Pushing Android client to known devices

To push the Android client to devices known by DME, do the following:

  1. Select the Android DME client in the DME clients subtab of the Software panel in the Provisioning tab.
  2. Click the Install software icon:

  3. Select Install on existing devices, and click Confirm.

DME shows a list of all Android devices in the DME system. A filter called Validated devices only is automatically applied. You can now search for and select the devices on which to install the selected software (see Device filter for more information).

  4. When you have selected the devices on which you want to install the client, click the Install software icon:

DME shows a window similar to the following:

Apart from seeing information about the selected client and the number of selected devices, you must select an installation method and possibly scheduling options:

Installation options: In this field you can choose how the new client should be installed on the client:

Scheduling: If you enable scheduling, DME will distribute the roll-out of clients as you specify in the fields below, to ease the load on the server. You can choose how many installations DME should initiate per day, a start date, the days of the week where installations should be initiated, and a time range within which it should take place.

  5. Click Install to initiate the installation of the selected client on the selected devices.

An overview of the selected devices is shown, and you are asked to confirm the installation.

The installation process begins. You can follow the process as described in Monitor the installation process.

Note that it is possible to install any uploaded software to Android devices in this way. You can do this by choosing the Install software action from the Other software panel section rather than the DME clients panel section.
