Workflows

Assuming that DME and MobiControl have been successfully integrated, the workflows related to device management can be described as follows.

MDM: Add new user in MobiControl and DME

When a new user (for instance a new employee) needs to be enrolled in MobiControl and DME, you first need to know which type of device the new user has/gets. Then supply instructions to download the MobiControl app and enter an Enrollment ID. See Add device in MobiControl.

This enrolls the device in MobiControl. The user then has to get DME from the App Catalog. See DME installation message template. For information about creating the App Catalog rule, see DME installation through external MDM.

MDM: Add existing user in MobiControl to DME

1. First make sure the user has access to the DME app from his or her Application Catalog. Then tell the user to:
2. Open the SOTI App Catalog on his or her device.
3. Tap the DME app.
4. Then follow the guideline for his or her platform (see DME installation through external MDM).

MDM: When a user leaves the company

To remove SOTI MobiControl and DME from a user's device, simply un-install the apps. On Android, you need to open Settings > Security > Select device administrators (the path to this setting varies depending on device), and deactivate DME Device Administration in order to be able to remove the DME client.

MDM: When a user gets new device

If a user gets a new device, simply let the user enroll the device with MobiControl as for new users, and then install DME from the App Catalog.

MDM: When a user gets device from other user

By default, the setting Allow devices to switch users is On (see MDM). When it is, you can pass a device to another user, and the new user will be able to log in to DME. DME will delete the previous user's data and allow a new user to log in.

If the setting is Off, the DME Administrator must delete the device from DME, and the user must un-install the DME client and re-install it from the MobiControl App Catalog.
