Application Catalog rules

In this description of how to create installation rules for DME, we assume that you have a basic knowledge of managing SOTI MobiControl. You can find help for MobiControl issues in the MobiControl online help.

This table outlines the options available for installing DME on different platforms.

To create an application catalog rule, do the following in the MobiControl administration interface. Platform-specific differences in the description below are indicated by the icons Android (for Android and Android+) and Apple iOS (for Apple iOS). Windows Phone is not discussed here at all - see Add device in MobiControl for more information.

  1. Open the Rules tab at the bottom of the window.
  2. Click the platform for which you want to create a rule - iOS, Android, or Android+.
  3. Right-click the Application Catalog folder, and choose Create Application Catalog Rule.

    Give the rule a name, and click Next.

  4. Click Add.

    Android For Android devices:

    1. Choose Google Play Store Applications.
    2. In the Search box, type DME, and select the DME app.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. In Application Type, select Mandatory.
    5. In the field Configuration URI, enter the configuration URI for DME. See Configuration URI.

    Apple iOS For iOS devices:

    1. Choose App Store Applications.
    2. In the Search box, type DME 4, and select the DME 4 app.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. In Application Type, select Mandatory, and click OK.
    5. Click Application Configuration.
    6. In the field Configuration URI, enter the configuration URI for DME. See Configuration URI. This applies to iOS 6.x devices.
    7. In the field Configuration Command, enter the command for configuring DME. See Configuration Command. If this field is completed, it will be used by iOS 7.x devices. Otherwise they will use the Configuration URI also.
  5. Click OK twice, and then click Next.
  6. Choose the target folders of the Application Catalog rule. See the MobiControl documentation.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Advanced if you want to specify a date for activation and deactivation of the rule.
  9. Click Finish.

Repeat this for each platform - iOS, Android, and Android+.
